Property taxes are a critical funding source for public schools and services within your community, but they can also create challenges for homeowners living in areas where property values suddenly rise. When property taxes become too costly, homeowners, particularly those with modest incomes or on a fixed income, may face foreclosure or involuntary displacement because of their inability to pay – even if they are no longer carrying a mortgage. Rising property taxes also impacts renters because they pay a portion of their landlord’s taxes as part of their monthly rent.

Step 1:
Eligibility Qualification
If you need tax assistance for your real estate property, give us a call today at (202) 600-2425 and ask for the Eligibility Office, or click the “Apply” link above.
Step 2:
Processing
Processing takes up to three business days. Our Selection Committee is responsible for determining families most suited to receive tax assistance.
Step 3:
Award Determination
Once an approved decision has been made, funds are paid directly to the County Tax Collector/Treasurer and you are entitled to a copy of the receipt.
